A one-vehicle crash on I-75 in Fort Myers early Thursday left one man dead and five others injured.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of an SUV with five passengers was southbound near Alico Road when the SUV veered to the right and overturned several times, coming to rest on the shoulder.

One passenger, identified as a 35-year-old LaBelle man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, 33-year-old Tomas Cruz-Gomez of LaBelle, had minor injuries and upon release from the hospital, was arrested for driving without a license and causing a death, a felony.

Four other passengers, ranging in age from 29 to 40 and all of LaBelle, suffered injuries and were taken to hospitals.
