Lee County Sheriff’s Office confirms it has suspended a “civilian employee” Friday upon completion of its investigation into offensive posts made by its official Facebook account recently.

“This civilian employee’s conduct was unacceptable,” said Sheriff Carmine Marceno in the social media statement. “Abuse of any kind, including written or verbal abuse will not be tolerated. I demand the same high level of professionalism from our civilian members as from our sworn deputies.”

According to the Facebook post, an employee with access to the LCSO account came forward to confirm he had made the posts directed at two separate commenters recently.

LCSO says Sheriff Marceno immediately suspended the employee, who has been reassigned to other duties.
