Tuesday in Collier County, commissioners will decide whether or not to implement a mask mandate for residents. Right outside that meeting members of the Black Lives Matter movement are protesting for different demands.

Members of the Collier County Youth for Black Lives want commissioners to also talk about people of color.

They’re demanding commissioners reallocate funding from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office to other places, including mental health and drug treatment services, affordable housing, and neighborhoods inhabited predominately by people of color.

About 30 people showed up to the protest, all planning to give public comment during the meeting.

Collier Youth for Black Lives says they plan to have an all-day event.
