Police looking for suspects in attempted armed robbery at Chevron in Fort Myers

Fort Myers Police Department responded to an attempted armed robbery at a gas station Thursday night.

According to FMPD, police were called to a Chevron gas station at 3008 Cleveland Ave., where they say two male suspects tried to rob the convenience store.

Surveillance cameras captured the robbery and showed the suspects enter the business. One went around to the register and attempted to remove the cash register from the counter while the other pointed a handgun at the employee.

Police say the suspects ran away from the scene without any cash or property, headed northbound on Cleveland Ave. and cut behind the access road toward Grand Avenue.

The suspects were completely covered in dark clothing and concealed their faces with masks and sunglasses.

The investigation is ongoing.
