A Cape Coral woman faces a manslaughter charge after stabbing her mother to death Wednesday, police said.

Police were called to a home in the 2500 block of SW Embers Terrace shortly after 10 a.m. and found a woman with a stab wound to the chest. She was taken to the hospital where she died.

Mariya Lynn Kelly, 21, was arrested and taken to the Lee County Jail. A judge on Thursday set her bond at $250,000. If she bonds out, she’ll be required to surrender any weapons, stay away from the home where the crime occurred, and have no contact with her mother’s family.

Her next court date is July 20.

Police said Kelly and her mother were arguing when the stabbing happened. The victim’s two other children and Kelly’s toddler were in the house at the time, according to police.
