A flood advisory is issued for northeastern Hendry and Glades County until 6:30 p.m.

At 4:36 p.m, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Up to three inches of rain have already fallen.

Some locations that will experience flooding include

  • Clewiston
  • Labelle
  • Moore Haven
  • Lakeport
  • Palmdale

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of canals
and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely. You can also send flood reports to NWS Miami on
Facebook and Twitter.


A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 4:00 p.m. for East-Central Collier, Eastern Hendry counties.

At 3:20 p.m., severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Montura to 6 miles southeast of Hendry Correctional to near Big Cypress Seminole Reservation to Miccosukee Service Plaza, moving west at 5 mph.

60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include Montura, Big Cypress Seminole Reservation, Big Cypress National Preserve, Devils Garden and Rotenberger Wildlife Refuge.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS.

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into a
small central room in a sturdy structure.

To report severe weather contact your nearest law enforcement agency.
They will send your report to the National Weather Service office in
Miami. You can also share your report with NWS Miami on Facebook and
Twitter.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature`s leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
