The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce wants the community to get active, or not, in support of local business. The Business as (Un)usual 5K will begin on Friday, May 22, and continue until Monday, to encourage exercising while social distancing and also raising money for businesses.

Those who register before the start will receive a T-shirt by mail as a token of the chamber’s appreciation. Registration is just $20 for those ages 13 and up while participation for those 12 and under is free. Other apparel is also for sale by the chamber in support of businesses in the area.

Participants are encouraged to walk, run, outside or on their treadmills, or skip, whatever makes them happy for five kilometers. The chamber also says you may relax during that period and just be proud of the support you’ve given to local businesses.

The virtual 5K will be held to support the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce’s mission to help businesses reopen and give them resources amid the shutdowns caused by the coronavirus. More information on the Business as (Un)usual initiative can be found on the Chamber’s website.

Citizens are encouraged to share their pictures during the virtual 5K on social media with family, friends and of course, The Chamber of Commerce.
