Law enforcement is still looking for a man who jumped into a fish tank at the Gulf Coast Town Center Bass Pro Shops in south Fort Myers.

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers said Daniel Armendariz, 27, jumped into the large fish aquarium, exited the tank and ran out of the store, fleeing in a silver sedan.

The stunt from May 10 was recorded on video and posted to a Facebook Group, garnering more than 11,000 shares.

Bass Pro Shops said the incident will cost them approximately $3,000 to decontaminate the aquarium for the safety of the marine life and fish species.

On Monday, Armendariz posted a taunt to the sheriff’s office on Facebook saying in part: “Since all you authorities want to blast me like I’m some nasty criminal and offer awards well guess what… Get to working even more because I’ll turn myself in when I’m ready, you guys have put me out to be a drug dealing, robbing, aggravated battering criminal, but guess what I beat all those charges.”

Armendariz has previous arrests for robbery, aggravated battery, and sale/delivery of drugs. He may be residing or spending time in the North Fort Myers area or San Carlos Park. And upon his arrest, Armendariz will also be charged with trespassing.

The director of communications for Bass Pro Shops said in a statement:

“Our stores host more than 200 million visitors annually and provide a safe, fun experience for families who share our respect for wildlife. This incident is illegal, dangerous and highly discouraged. We work with law enforcement to investigate all individuals who personally attempt or are involved with such activities.”

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Armendariz is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).

All callers will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $3,000. Tips may also be made online at www.southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com or by submitting a tip on the P3Tips mobile app.
