Pedestrian killed in early morning collision in Cape Coral

A car hit and killed a pedestrian in Cape Coral around 12:30 a.m. on Skyline Boulevard, just north of Cape Coral Parkway.

According to Cape Coral police, Nelson Luis Garrido was struck and killed by a vehicle as he was lying face down in the roadway on Skyline Blvd.

Police say the driver of the vehicle was traveling southbound in the outside travel lane when the front of the vehicle struck Garrido.

Garrido was thrown approximately 65 feet from the point of collision. The vehicle came to rest on the southbound outside shoulder of Skyline Blvd., approximately 170 feet from the collision.

Garrido was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
