Charlotte County Fire & EMS confirms a tossed cigarette caused a two-acre brush fire off I-75 in Charlotte County Sunday.

Florida Forest Service and Florida Highway Patrol also responded to the scene.

FFS had two bulldozer units cut a fire ring through the wooded area off the interstate where the fire was, and it allowed fire crews to get trucks into the woods to put the fire out.

The fire department warns and advises anyone who smokes not to throw their cigarette butt from their vehicle.
