An overdose in a San Carlos Park home led Lee County deputies to a suspected fentanyl trafficker.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said they responded Thursday to the report of an unresponsive male inside a home in the San Carlos Park area. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies found a powdery substance at the scene, and a narcotics test confirmed the substance contained both cocaine and fentanyl, according to LCSO.

The investigation led to Alberto Salazar, 29, at his home on Safari Drive in Bonita Springs. LCSO said deputies watched the home and later obtained a search warrant, which led to the seizure of 5.6 grams of fentanyl, drug manufacturing equipment, a firearm and ammunition.

Salazar was arrested Thursday and charged with trafficking in fentanyl. He was released Friday on $30,000 bond.
