Punta Gorda brush fire 90% contained at 75 acres

A brush fire is burning in the Peace River Shores area of Punta Gorda in Charlotte County.

Charlotte County Fire said the 75-acre fire near Foxtail Lane off US-17 is 90 percent contained.

Residents who had been evacuated on Hiram Street have been allowed to return home.

Crews will remain throughout the evening and night to monitor hot spots.
