The owner of an Orlando barber shop helped Gov. Ron DeSantis and the state confirm barber shops, hair salons and nail salons will be permitted to reopen in counties already in Phase 1 of the reopening plan starting Monday, May 11.

J Henry of J Henry’s Barber Shop in Orlando helped make the announcement and confirmed businesses that reopen will be following guidelines to help ensure safety of staff and customers.

Henry encouraged people in counties that will be able to reopen these types of businesses to go out and support them but stressed the ultimate importance of safety.

And a professional in the industry here in Southwest Florida told us, although they have enough gloves for their employees already, that will be a concern moving forward.

Others we spoke to said all they are doing is preparing to reopen Monday and rethinking how appointments will work.

One stylist told us you’ll get your temperature check at the door.

Studio RK Salon told us they’ll be asking customers to wear mask when they book appointments.
