Florida Department of Economic Opportunity says Gov. Ron DeSantis has waived job search requirements in Florida until the end of May. But individuals going through the unemployment process in the state must begin claiming the weeks they’re unemployed to receive benefits beginning Sunday.

According to the DEO Facebook post, the governor has waived the work search/work registration requirements until May 30.

Now, those individuals will need to claim their weeks by indicating they are able and available for work should employment be available, per federal law.

See the step-by-step guide on how to claim your weeks, which is essential to receive payments. Claiming weeks officially starts Sunday, May 10.
