Thursday, Collier-Lee Honor Flight shared in a post on social media veteran Karl Godert in Southwest Florida died due to the coroanvirus Monday. According to the Collier-Lee Honor Flight Facebook post, Godert tested positive for COVID-19 weeks ago. Godert served in the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II. Collier-Lee Honor Flight detailed Goderts fight against COVID-19 as well as his honorable service during WWII. WINK News spoke to Godert about his time in the service for a previous story that aired in 2019.
