In Tuesday’s Lindsey lesson we are expanding our language with Duolingo. Duolingo is a free website that teaches you various languages through what I would call “Snackable lessons.” You can see all the different languages—some more common like Spanish, French and German to Swahili and Scottish Gaelic. Once you pick the language, it asks you if you want to do anywhere between 5 to 20-minute lessons a day—then asks you if you are new to the language or somewhat familiar with it. Once you’re done with that, you start drilling different sentences. Lindsey tried Spanish—which she has little knowledge of it, so it moved me up a few lessons. It had her putting together sentences, then repeating sentences. She liked this because it’s a nice little drill without it being overly time-consuming, especially if you have a child who may lose interest quickly. The basic profile is free to set up but If you want an upgraded plan it does cost money. For more information and to try it yourself—visit the DuoLingo website here.
