Residents still with nowhere to go after apartment fire in Collier CountyShalimar Beach Resort celebrates milestone groundbreaking on Sanibel Island
Credit: WINK News The School District of Lee County on Tuesday announced dates and venues for its traditional graduation ceremonies. The district announced in April that it was planning two ceremonies for each high school – virtual commencements to take place in June and traditional ceremonies to take place in July if CDC guidelines permit. Each of the district’s 13 traditional high schools with a senior class is working on putting together a virtual graduation ceremony that will air on YouTube from June 19 to 21. The schedule for those ceremonies is still being worked out. Each virtual ceremony will be modeled after a traditional ceremony with speeches that include school board members, district leadership, school principals and student leaders. Every student’s name will be announced while a photo of each graduate in cap and gown is shown on the screen. Students, parents, extended family members, and friends will be able to remotely view the ceremony. The district announced Tuesday it has secured venues for a traditional graduation ceremony for each school in July. The district said that in a survey, 90% of respondents said they would attend an in-person ceremony and 73% preferred the use of a large, off-campus, facility. Again, the in-person ceremonies will happen if CDC guidelines allow. SCHEDULE: Hertz Arena -11000 Everblades Pkwy, Estero Friday, July 17 Ida S.
