St. Matthews House donated meals to over 2,000 families this past week. Next week it must move from its current service location.

The nonprofit’s thrift store is on the same site of the food distribution area, and the store won’t be able to open. So it needed a new place to get meals to people.

The community came together to provide a new location that will be at the First Baptist Church in North Naples off Orange Blossom Drive.

“It’s good when a community comes together,” said Van Ellison, the nonprofit’s CEO. “It’s not about who gets the credit but who gets the food really. That’s what’s important.”

The St. Matthew’s House food drives take place 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. This upcoming week, it will only take place Thursday because of the location change.
