Lee County says testing is crucial in moving forward and monitoring the county as they continue to open up. They announced Friday they will be opening two new testing sites.

One of the new testing sites will be a drive-through site at CenturyLink Sports Complex and you don’t need to be exhibiting any symptoms or even have a doctor’s note.

That testing site opens up this Monday, May 4, and will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lee County Commissioner Brian Hamman says so far, 91%  of tests done in Lee County have come back negative, which is a positive sign moving forward.

Hamman says testing is the answer. “One of the ways we can help our citizens return back to work in a smart, safe and responsible way is to provide more testing like this.”

The site can handle up to 400 tests a day and there will be no charge for it. The Local Lee County Department of Health will notify you if you test positive.

They’ve also assigned 38 people to focus on contact tracing. They’re hoping to add more to that team.

“They are really doing a great job of following up with the people who have tested positive, making sure they notify people who were around or in contact with those people that they should probably get tested,” Hamman said.

Rep. Dane Eagle says this testing site will remain open for the indefinite future. “Theoretically, it could. Look, we’re watching the trends every single day, the governor has been very strong about that. The data is what is going to drive our response and this is going to help us produce more data so that we can have a more accurate response.”

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the National Guard will be monitoring this site.

In addition, another site will open at the Walmart on Lee Blvd. in Lehigh Acres. This site will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday, and you will need an appointment, doctors note and be showing symptoms in order to be tested.

The Lehigh Acres site is run in partnership with Quest Diagnostics and Walmart. Appointments must be made through www.MyQuestCOVIDTest.com. Results will take an average of two days after collection to receive.
