SWFL musicians, businesses band together through ‘We Have Your Back’ effort to feed community

One Fort Myers man is inspiring others to support local business and health care workers all at the same time.

While performing different songs, musicians share the same goal — playing to help one former Lee Health patient give back to our community.

“I had an infection after surgery and ended up being in the hospital for over a year and a half…so when this happened I really wanted to give back to the people that took care of me,” said Fritz Caraher, creator of the ‘We Have Your Back Program‘ Facebook page.

Caraher created the page in an effort to inspire people to support Southwest Florida business and health care workers during these tough times.

“We partnered with the RYAN Healing Center a nonprofit supportive living environment for addicts and women who have gone through human trafficking,” Caraher said.

With fellow musicians streaming support for his cause — they’ve already raised thousands of dollars to purchase more than 2,400 meals made by local restaurants.

“Us here at King’s Kitchen just wanna say thank you very much Fritz and the organization ‘We Have Your Back’ feeding nurses and hospitals,” said an employee at King’s Kitchen.

These meals have been making their way into hospitals every night since the beginning of April.

“We got a call from the isolation unit that a nurse was in tears saying ‘thank you’ because she hadn’t been able to eat that evening because she was so busy,” Caraher added.

This is just one way our community is saying “we have your back” and we’re #GulfshoreStrong.
