Thanking our healthcare heroes with signs of appreciation. Tuesday is Heroes Day and one retirement community in Southwest Florida decided to do something special for their employees.

Every day, Diane Lamprey takes her dog, Maggie, for a walk—same route, same view—but Tuesday was different.

Maggie is all dressed up to celebrate Healthcare Heroes Day. Atrium at Liberty Park decided to pay tribute to healthcare workers in their senior living community.

“The workers are great,” Lamprey said. “They deserve a big applause. They’re fabulous.”

There are their superheroes.

“I think they’re wonderful. Thank God for them. I go out and I walk every morning and I look at them and it’s beautiful,” said Arthur who lives in the community.

Robert Lord, the executive director, says this is a way to keep morale high.

“Our associates come to work every day and take that risk of what’s going on during this pandemic,” he said. “They are brave and we want to honor them and our residents want to honor them.”

The big kicker—a Facebook live concert specifically for the community.

It really is the little things that make the biggest impact.

“They’re fabulous people, fabulous,” Lamprey said. “Great people. They work hard at keeping us happy. It means everything. It keeps you lively, it keeps you going and it keeps you wanting to live.”

Lord said the community plans to do more activities like this in the future to keep spirits high.
