As we head into the end of the year, usually, schools would host spirit week. But, since schools are not open, a school district in Southwest Florida plans to host it virtually by encouraging teachers and students to post pictures of themselves participating.

Collier County Public Schools is encouraging school spirit among its students and teachers at a social distance, since they can’t participate on school campuses like they normally would. Monday, students and teachers were posting pictures of their pets supporting them to complete their schoolwork.

The next five days will be a virtual spirit week for Collier County, starting with furry friends, from dogs with headphones to cats taking over a teacher’s Zoom lesson.

One teacher even asked if her dog, Dusty, is more of a study buddy or a classroom distraction. No matter the answer, the posts online showed students were enjoying the extra time with their pets.

Tuesday is superhero days in for Collier County Public Schools’ spirit week. With more themes the rest of the week that will lead of to college day, where everyone gets to show off their favorite school’s colors.
