Florida Forest Service confirmed multiple fire departments responded to what started as an 88-acre brushfire near homes in Hendry County Friday.

According to FFS, crews responded to the fire off State Road 80 along Queen Avenue. As of 11 p.m., the fire is currently at 100% containment at 85 acres.

FFS said there were seven structures in danger of the fire but have not confirmed what type. And Hendry County Sheriff’s Office said at least two homes were in danger.

There were evacuations or injuries reported.

FFS has several bulldozers on scene and a fixed-wing plane, and a strike team was called in for support if needed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
