Naples diner donates meals to NCH workers

One Southwest Florida restaurant is making sure healthcare workers at NCH are fed.

Lake Park Diner in Naples is donating hundreds of meals to our workers on the front lines.

NCH is just right down the street from this restaurant and some of the hospitals’ staff are even regulars at the diner.

Now more than ever, the diner says those doctors and nurses need our support and they’re doing what they can to show this community is Gulfshore Strong.

“You guys are putting your lives at risk every single day,” said Conrad Medina, the general manager of Lake Park Diner.

For Medina, these workers on the frontlines are some familiar faces.

Many NCH workers stop into Lake Park Diner in between shifts.

”One of their orders? Mr. Matthew…he loves a pimento chicken sandwich…does not like arugula, gets a classic milkshake every single time,” he said.

But Medina and his coworkers grill up orders a little differently nowadays with the restaurant’s diner closed.

“Business right now, it’s been a little tough,” he said.

Lunch is served, but instead of on plates, it comes in bags—100 healthy meals delivered to the hospital, wheeled up to the nurses and doctors treating COVID-19 patients.

“It’s the right thing to do,” Medina said. “Times like this we all have to come together, we’re stronger together.”

“It’s more than just food,” said NCH President Paul Hiltz. “It’s showing support and I would say the nurses and doctors and employees inside these hospitals are feeding off of this community support right now, giving them the strength to keep going and take great care of people.”

A community giving back and a mission appreciated.

“All we can do is serve you some delicious food and hopefully that brings a smile to their faces,” Medina said.

The diner plans to deliver 700 meals to NCH workers by this weekend. Now, they want to carry the mission throughout the month.
