A 69-year-old man from Port Charlotte died after pulling out in front of a vehicle on El Jobean Road early Monday morning. According to Florida Highway Patrol, William Slater, 69, was at a stop sign on Hollis Avenue at the intersection of El Jobean Road when he pulled out in front of a vehicle. The front of the southbound vehicle collided with the side of Slater’s Nissan Versa sending the vehicle into the median of the road. The driver of the second vehicle suffered no injuries in the collision. Slater was taken to the Northport Sarasota hospital where he was pronounced dead. The deadly crash remains under investigation.
