Saturday, Florida Highway Patrol responded to a deadly motorcycle crash that killed the rider in Charlotte County.

FHP confirms motorcyclist William Kempf, 71, of Punta Gorda was killed in a crash after losing control of a 2016 Harley Davidson trike he was riding along Taylor Road.

According to the crash report, Kempf was traveling southbound along Taylor Rd. just before the intersection with Burnt Store Road (CR-765). The rider went to turn right onto Burnt Store Rd. and lost control of the vehicle, which rotated and then overturned on its left side. The vehicle slid into a ditch, where it came to a final rest.

Kempf was pronounced dead at the scene.

The report says Kempf was not wearing a helmet, and alcohol was a factor in the crash.
