The Lee County Sheriff’s Office held a news conference regarding COVID-19 Monday afternoon.

The Lee County Sheriff, Lee County Commissioner, Lee Schools Superintendent, Lee County Health Department and Lee Health all spoke on the virus.

The biggest takeaway: There are no new cases of coronavirus in Lee County.

Lee County Commissioner Brian Hamman said “It’s too early to tell if this is affecting us” from a tourism and economic standpoint. He said the virus has not interrupted any county services.

Lee Schools Superintendent said they are monitoring sick students who come to school clinic with flu-like symptoms, isolating them and calling parents.

With spring break next week, Lee Schools Superintendent asked parents if they plan to travel internationally to one of the countries on the CDC’s list, come back & self-quarantine for 14 days. If you’re going on a cruise, check with your doctor on how to proceed.

The Health Department reminded everyone that just walking by someone is not necessarily a risk and you want to make sure to have six feet of separation.
