Right now, there is a death investigation underway on Lavin Lane in North Fort Myers, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Bones were found in a wooded area behind a busy road. Investigators are trying to figure out who they are and how they got there. The investigation is in an area where thousands of commuters drive past every day of U.S. 41 and Brooks Road. Neighbors who live near the area have questions about what happened there. All they know, and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office will say, is that someone discovered the skeletal remains. The investigation will need more time. Authorities said the process of identifying skeletal remains in not easy. Secondly, they have to determine if the death is criminal or natural. Vinnie, who did not want to give his last name, said a dead body has people on edge. “This is pretty intense for this area,” Vinnie said. “Nothing really happens around here.” The for-sale sign, once in the ground in front of the property, is now gone. Gertrude Burdl shutters that someone could have been murdered near her home. Burdl told WINK News for the last year or so, she has walked in the area that’s now taped off. “And that’s going to end,” Burdl said.
