The School District of Lee County tells WINK News it is investigating accusations of testing fraud right now at Island Coast High School. One of the teachers claimed it happened under the principal’s watch.

Chris Rosado’s son is a freshman this year at Island Coast.

”He’s actually doing a lot better,” Rosado said. “Attitudes changed, so you know. I like this school.”

But the investigation into alleged testing fraud worries him.

“It’s a little skeptical,” Rosado said. “But you know, I’m hoping it’s my kid doing a good job.”

Ben Yormak, the attorney representing a teacher, sent this letter to the School District of Lee County.

Ben Yormak is the attorney representing a teacher who said she was moved to a different school for reporting her concerns.

“Only then, did the principal retaliate and file a complaint against her,” Yormak said. “The concern here is we are promoting students that have no business being promoted and it just sets them up to fail at the next level.”

The School District of Lee County said the teacher was already under investigation for an unrelated matter before she brought up the testing fraud allegations.

“That’s not true,” Yormak said. “Really, until their feet were held to the fire, they were going to ignore it.”

As the investigation develops, parents are hoping for fair grades.

”The child’s not getting their full education, you know,” Josh Heaver said. “They’re kind of being robbed themselves.”

WINK News tried calling the principal and went to her house for comment, but were unable to reach her.

The School District of Lee County says they began investigating the allegations once it was brought to their attention at the beginning of the school year, but they say they can’t comment until the investigation is complete.
