Florida Highway Patrol responded to a multi-vehicle crash with injuries along northbound I-75 in south Fort Myers Sunday.

According to FHP, three vehicles were involved in the crash on Sunday, and a total of 11 people were injured. 10 with minor injuries and one with serious injuries.

FHP says the three vehicles were all driving north in the center lane on I-75 near Daniels Parkway, one behind the other. The vehicle in the middle of the three began to slow down in traffic, when the vehicle in the back of the pack failed to slow down and hit the rear end of the middle vehicle.

In an attempt to avoid being hit, the third vehicle swerved but was ultimately struck by the rear vehicle and was spun around off the side of the road.

After the rear vehicle struck the middle, it traveled off the roadway and flipped over on to it’s roof, but luckily the driver only suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the rear vehicle that failed to slow down suffered the serious injuries, and was also charged with careless driving.

All injured in the crash were transported to Lee Memorial Hospital.
