2 dead, 1 injured in Daniels crash in south Fort Myers

Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash involving two vehicles on Daniels Parkway near the intersection with Brookshire Lake Drive in south Fort Myers Saturday.

FHP confirms a driver and passenger in a 2018 Toyota Corolla were killed in a crash with a driver in a 2016 Ford Focus, who was seriously injured. The crash was just west of Six Mile Cypress Parkway.

According to FHP, the Toyota was going east on Daniels Pkwy. in the left turn lane, while the Ford was going west on Daniels in the center lane. The Toyota went left into the path of the Ford through the intersection with Brookshire Lake Dr. The Ford hit the Toyota on the right side. The Toyota ended up in a ditch off the roadway, while the Ford remained on the street.

The driver and passenger in the Toyota were pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the Ford, who is of Naples, was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital to treat serious injuries.

FHP has not released the names, age or gender of the driver and the passenger of the Toyota pending next-of-kin notification. The driver has a Fort Myers residence. The passenger does not have a designated location identified in the report.

The scene of the crash is clear.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
