A U.S. Coast Guard crew stationed at Fort Myers Beach made an unusual rescue on Wednesday.

While the crew was out for a night patrol, they received a call for a dog in distress that was seen swimming off Fort Myers Beach and Bowditch Point.

The dog was rescued successfully and returned to her owner, but not before they snapped a photo and got her all cleaned up.

The crew said in a Facebook post, “Thanks to the crew’s expertise in intercepting non-compliant vessels and recovering a person in the water, our ‘star’ of the night was safely recovered and returned to her owner!”

Great work guys!
