Bodies found inside a NW Cape Coral home identified as mother and son, police still investigating

Tuesday, Cape Coral Police Department began conducting a death investigation after two bodies were found inside a Cape Coral home.

Police say they found the bodies of mother and son, Joanne Lynn Walpole, 59, and Michael Edward Walpole, 37, inside the residence on the 2600 block of NW 9th Street at 8:45 a.m.

Police say they were initially called for a welfare check.

Next of kin for the deceased have been notified, and detectives with the Major Crimes Unit are conducting the investigation.

Police say there is no danger to the public.

No further information has been released.
