A bicyclist, who was hit by a vehicle in Naples on Tuesday afternoon, appears that he will survive the crash.

The person was hit around 5:30 p.m. along the 5000 block of Davis Blvd. The bicyclist was been flown to Lee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. But, according to the Florida Highway Patrol, the victim is going to make it.

The incident remains under investigation.

Carlos Herrera is someone who uses his bicycle ever day on his commute to work and to class. The recent incident is concerning to him. And it’s not the only one. Herrera said he was hit by a car while he was riding down a Collier County road three weeks ago, and he too sustained injuries.

“What if it’s your nephew or your brother, and he happens to go on a bike ride and isn’t looking out for his warning signs?” Herrera said. “It’s a deadly game of cat and mouse.”

The county said they are aware that this is a problem area, and they are working on studied to help make it safer. Those could be seen as soon as next year.

“You have to be aware,” Herrera said. “You could cost somebody their life.”
