**ORIGINAL POST**

A double-fatal crash closed one southbound lane on Alligator Alley (I-75) in Collier County Wednesday.

The crash happened around 12:50 p.m. at mile marker 85, just west of SR-29. A second crash in the same area happened at 3:15 p.m., contributing to the traffic delays.

Florida Highway Patrol responded to the rollover crash that killed passengers Marie Chery, 61, and Marie Dorange, 88, both from North Miami.

The fatal crash victims were passengers in a 2001 Toyota Sequoia along with a 36-year old driver and an 8-year-old passenger. FHP says the driver was going westbound along the alley just west of State Road 29 when the vehicle went off the road and rolled over, coming to a final rest in the median of  the interstate.

According to the FHP crash report, the 36-year-old driver was transported to a nearby hospital to treat minor injuries, and an 8-year-old passenger was flown in a trauma helicopter to Tampa General Hospital to treat critical injuries. Both Chery and Dorange were pronounced dead at the scene.

There is a Careless Driving charge pending in the crash.
