FHP says Balester was traveling north on Del Prado, attempting to turn left into a shopping plaza when she pulled in front of the officers patrol vehicle that was going southbound approaching the same shopping plaza entrance.

The front of the patrol vehicle struck the side of Balester’s car, knocking the car into a nearby palm tree.

The palm tree toppled over on to an unoccupied car that was parked nearby.

Balester was taken to the Lee Memorial Hospital to be treated for her injuries.
