Pedestrian dies days after south Fort Myers crash on McGregor

Sunday, Florida Highway Patrol responded to a crash involving a vehicle versus a pedestrian along McGregor Boulevard in south Fort Myers. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries, and he is confirmed to have succumbed to his injuries and died.

Florida Highway Patrol confirms Troy Carara, 51, of Fort Myers died Wednesday from injuries he suffered after being hit by a car along McGregor near Kapok Court.

According to FHP, a driver in a 2007 Nissan Sentra was traveling southbound along McGregor approaching the intersection with Kapok Ct.

As the Nissan neared the intersection, Carara attempted to cross McGregor going east, and the front of the Nissan hit Carara.

Carara was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment before he was pronounced dead days after the crash.

There are no charges currently pending, but the crash remains under investigation.
