A wild high-speed chase down Interstate 75 on Wednesday night went through two counties and ended with a crash.

The suspect in the chase, Domenick Elario, 55, was handcuffed and is behind bars once again. According to court records, Elario is a convicted felon with a long criminal history, with crimes involving reckless driving, grand theft and drug possession. This time he is facing charges for Aggravating Fleeing and Eluding.

It started on Immokalee Rd and ended seven miles north of Bonita Beach Rd. Deputies say the chase began with a traffic violation and when deputies tried to pull the Elario over, his car shot off. Elario drove in all directions, even in the wrong way on Pine Ridge Rd.

Elario pulled a speedy U-turn on Osceola Trail, where several Collier County Public Schools are located. Soon after, deputies pulled several pit maneuvers, leaving a crash scene on Bonita Beach Rd.

After arresting Elario, the suspect was later taken out of the back of a patrol car and moved into an ambulance for his injuries. Besides Elario, no other injuries were reported.

Since the crash ended in Lee County, that is where the suspect is in custody. Elario will eventually be brought to Collier County to face charges.
