Three juveniles were arrested in Cape Coral early Thursday morning for stealing a car, police say.

Three juvenile suspects, two 15-year-olds and a 16-year-old, face charges of Grand Theft Auto and Resisting without Violence. The 16-year-old also faces a charge of Driving Without a Driver’s License.

The suspects, driven by the 16-year-old, were in a Nissan Altima around 2 a.m. when an officer from the Cape Coral Police Dept. saw the vehicle moving without lights as it made a right turn from Mohawk Pkwy into a parking lot of a Neighborhood Walmart. According to the CCPD press release, the juveniles fled on foot but were spotted soon afterward.

At the time of the traffic stop, the Nissan was not reported stolen. In the press release, CCPD went to the registered owner of the Nissan who was unaware the vehicle was taken, nor did the person permit for the suspects to take it. The owner then reported the car stolen.
