Credit: Google Maps via WINK News. Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle along Tamiami Trail E (U.S. 41) in southern Collier County Sunday night. According to FHP, Michael J. Defilippis, 37, was driving a motorcycle northbound on U.S 41 when the driver of a Volkswagen Jetta heading south made a u-turn directly into his path. Defilippis slammed into the rear end of the Jetta and was thrown from his motorcycle. Defilippis was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Charges are pending as the incident is under investigation.
