A Fort Myers man is behind bars after he was charged and accused of molesting a young child, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Antonio Becerril Soria, 44, has been charged with Capital Sexual Battery and Lewd and Lascivious Behavior in regards to the sex crime.

Deputies say they were dispatched to a Fort Myers residence on Oct. 19, 2019, in reference to a sex crime.

LCSO’s Special Victim’s Unit detectives responded and assumed the investigation due to the nature of the incident.

Detectives say Soria had been molesting a child for several years, starting at the young age of 5 and threatened to kill the child and their family if they told anyone.

The child ultimately wound up telling a parent of the abuse, who then confronted Soria about the allegations.

Soria denied it and threatened the family if they were to report the incident to law enforcement. The parent went on to contact LCSO.

Detectives completed a thorough investigation, gathered evidence and established probable cause for arrest.

The Fugitive Warrants Unit tracked down Soria and he was transported to the Lee County Jail without incident.
