On Wednesday, Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an accidental gun shot injury received by a North Fort Myers man.

That man, Tobbie Conley, 39, said he accidentally shot himself in the thigh while placing a handgun into his pocket.

He was quickly taken to Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office detectives discovered that Conley was a convicted felon, having been arrested and convicted in Lee County for Heroin Trafficking, Cocaine Possession and Possession of a Controlled Substance in 2018.

As a convicted felon, it is illegal to possess firearms, including muzzle loading guns, unless the convicted felon has had his/her civil rights restored and firearm authority restored by the state’s Clemency Board.

Conley was arrested and taken to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
