Juan Mateo Ruiz (LCSO) A Fort Myers man has received the maximum sentence after having sexual relations with a middle school girl, according to State Attorney Amira D. Fox. Juan Mateo Ruiz, 32, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for one count of Lewd or Lascivious Molestation after being found guilty at trial in September. Ruiz met the Fort Myers girl in early 2018 after she left her school bus stop. He started a conversation with her and continued talking to her for several weeks. He eventually invited her to his home where he then had sexual relations with her. A family member of the girl saw her with Ruiz on a street and told her mother, who then contacted the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Their Special Victims Unit investigated the case and Ruiz was arrested.
