Walmart expects a nationwide shortage of Dawn Dish Soap. But before you panic in the cleaning aisle, you should hear what Procter & Gamble has to say.

“I’m preferential to Dawn,” Tom Bryan said.

“We have used Dawn for a long time,” Trina Keller said.

P&G, who produces the suds, said it had a brief period where demand exceeded supply. But it seems like Walmart is the only one taking the blow. One reason P&G sells a lot more with a lot less stock is to keep prices down.

Walmart posted signs on half-full shelves, telling customers to expect the shortage until Dec. 1. We checked out stores here and that held. But with holiday dishes in around a month, some told WINK News they might have to hunt down Dawn from another store or settle for a generic brand.

The Dawn shortage is an example of how something can spread quickly on social media. The sign at Walmart caught fire, prompting news outlets like The Wall Street Journal and WINK News to investigate.
