A Naples man and two other suspects are behind bars after a high-speed chase Friday evening that led to the seizure of drugs and a weapon.

The suspect, Carlos Alberto Castellanos, 19, faces a felony charge of Flee/Elude LEO in Marked Unit. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of Resist LEO Without Violence.

Moments before a traffic stop led the suspects to flee, Collier County Sheriff’s Office deputies heard gunshots. They then pursued the fast-moving Dodge Charger going northbound on Bayshore Dr. According to the CCSO arrest report, a passenger threw out a bag – later found to be marijuana – while moving around 60 miles per hour.

As the Dodge Charger went into a parking lot at 3555 Bayshore Dr., a front-seat passenger and a person in the backseat swung open the doors to jump out of the vehicle. The two men, Arturo Cavazos and Bryan Cavazos, who ran away on foot, were later arrested, per the release.

Castellanos drove out of the parking lot. He came to a stop at a dead-end inside an apartment complex at the 700 block of Bayshore Dr. where the deputy told him to raise his hands over his head. The suspect kept making “a movement for his waistband area,” leading the deputy to punch Castellanos in the face and handcuff him when he went to the ground, per the release.

A search of the Dodge Charger found a shotgun. Forty caliber ammunition found with the weapon would later match the shell casings at the original traffic stop scene. Castellanos has bonded out of jail.
