The Vietnam Memorial Wall, honoring the names of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. (Credit: WINK News) It is a traveling memorial that is making sure our heroes are never forgotten. On Sunday, you can honor the people who gave their lives during the Vietnam War. As part of the 100th-anniversary celebration of American Legion Post 38, a Vietnam traveling memorial wall went on display this weekend at JetBlue Park at Fenway South. On Thursday, more than 100 people took part in a rolling roadblock in Fort Myers to bring in the Vietnam traveling memorial wall. In a country with many memorials, this is symbolic to many people in our area. “To see some of your friends’ names from your unit, from your hometown, on there when they say it’s moving, it’s a very moving experience,” said Mike Brophy, an Army veteran. “It’s like taking my friends to their final resting spot in a symbolic way. It’ll make me feel a lot better. I know that and I’ll share it with their families whoever’s still around.” The memorial will be on display until 3 p.m. on Sunday and the public is encouraged to come by and not only see the wall but interact with it and connect with the memories of more than 58,000 fallen American heroes.
