North Fort Myers man sentenced to life in prison for second-degree murder of a toddler

A man from North Fort Myers was sentenced to life in prison plus 30 years after being found guilty of fatally wounding a child.

Damien Palmer, 24, was found guilty of Second-Degree Murder and Aggravated Child Abuse of 2-year-old Chevy Catalano Thursday, in February. Today the judge sentenced him to life in prison plus 30 years behind bars.

Catalano was found in medical distress and suffered extensive bleeding and brain swelling on June 21, 2017 and died on June 29, 2017, according to doctors at Golisano Children’s Hospital.
