According to Fort Myers Police, officers were called to a Central Avenue Apartment in reference to a shooting Thursday.

As officers arrived they met with a woman who told them she got into an argument with 26-year-old Javonte Vershawn Walker.

The victim said she told Walker to leave when he pulled out a handgun and threatened to shoot her in the foot. Police say Walker then fired into the floor.

The bullet ricocheted off the tile causing several lacerations to the victim’s right foot from flying debris. Walker left the apartment after the victim called 911.

FMPD says detectives responded to the scene and issued a warrant for Walker’s arrest on two counts Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and two counts of Cruelty Toward a Child since children were present.
