Lee County officials make an announcement ahead of Hurricane Dorian (WINK News) Lee County officials held a news conference Saturday morning to discuss their plans ahead of Hurricane Dorian. They announced a partial emergency activation will continue to keep the county Emergency Operations Center active. This means about a dozen key agencies are at the EOC monitoring and planning. The local state of emergency declared Friday and spanning seven days will remain in effect. Watch the announcement in the player below: The Lee County School District says they are still in a “wait and see” mode as they continue to monitor the storm. A final call on whether or not school will be in session is set to be announced by Monday afternoon. Collier County made an announcement earlier Saturday morning saying they will not be declaring a local state of emergency at this time. Additionally, Charlotte County has deactivated their Emergency Operations Center, and is continuing to monitor the storm. Their local state of emergency will remain in effect until Sept. 6.
