FEMA announced Friday afternoon that President Donald J. Trump has signed an emergency declaration for the State of Florida.

Federal emergency aid has been made available to Florida to supplement state, tribal and local response efforts due to conditions affected by Hurricane Dorian.

The president’s action now authorizes FEMA to coordinate disaster relief efforts to alleviate the hardship and suffering caused by the emergency on the people affected and provide assistance for required emergency measures.

FEMA is now authorized to identify, mobilize and provide at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to do those things.

Assistance for emergency protective measures (Category B), limited to direct federal assistance under the Public Assistance program, will be provided at 75 percent federal funding for all 67 counties in the state of Florida.

Additional designations may be bade at a later date if requested by the state and warranted by the results of damage assessments.
